I know it seems like I keep going on about the views in Dubai – surely there is only so much you can look at in one city? Wrong. The Dubai skyline keeps captivating you, from all its beautiful angles and I would keep urging you to find new places and ways to view the city. I do have a slight obsession with views and once made Tim climb up to the top of every tower we found on a trip to Italy (and there are a lot of towers there!) but that’s a different story.
One evening I headed to Jumeriah Beach Hotel to meet up with an old friend who now lives in Dubai. She suggested going to 360 Bar for sunset. We went on a Saturday night, which apparently is “Ladies Night” which means we got some good deals on our drinks. Although all the tables are labelled as reserved my friend confidently strolled to the one she wanted and took a seat reasoning that at this time of day, if someone was going be there for sunset, they’d already be there. We would move if needed.
Deep in conversation as the sun disappeared behind the Burj Al Arab and painted the sky magnificent colours, it was hard to keep track of the time. We headed back up to the main hotel via the complimentary golf buggy to Uptown Bar for a sweeping panoramic view of the city. Since it is quite cold up there they supply you with shawls.
An interesting titbit of information, the Jumeriah Beach Hotel (or JBH as it is affectionately known) is built to resemble a wave, Uptown bar which sits on top of this magnificent structure is remisicent of a boat, and the Burj Al Arab the sail. I see what you did there JBH, I see what you did!
Anyway, if you are heading to Dubai, I would highly recommend a visit to these bars, if only for the views. Enjoy!
