The destination: The Four Seasons Serengeti
The four seasons Serengeti is a 5 star, all inclusive luxury resort in the heart of Tanzania’s Serengeti national park. Our article about the challenges of running this hotel can be found here.
Why honeymoon here?
Surrounded by incredible wildlife in the picture perfect Serengeti, the Four Seasons Serengeti is the most luxurious way to safari. The hotel location affords the most inspiring views out over the Serengeti and offers everything, including wildlife: the watering hole at the epicentre of the hotel attracts herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and elephants for stunning game viewing from the hotel pool, so that even if you don’t want to go on safari, the safari will come to you.
Romatic rooms?
Four poster beds, feather goose down pillows, freestanding bath, waterfall shower, private pool, sofas on the veranda, 2 toilets, 3 showers and a bathroom bigger than most hotel rooms.
Our full room review can be found here. In short, if you think you need something, there’s probably two in the room. Quite simply the most luxurious room we’ve ever stayed in.
Romantic dinning?
The hotel offers a honeymoon package which includes a candlelit dinner on the island of the pool. If the romantic setting isn’t enough for you, world renowned chefs will prepare a bespoke meal for you which might include delights such as truffled cream of pumpkin soup and grilled tenderloin steak with cauliflower puree and glazed potatoes.
What does cauliflower puree taste like? Like a revelation. Trust me.
Romantic Activities?
The hotel has the customary full service spa which offers couples treatments and some unique treatments. However, if you want to try something different they also offer sunrise Yoga classes on top of a nearby cliff overlooking the Serengeti plain.
The yoga classes come with complementary Masai Warriors… just in case some lions fancy joining you for some hot Yoga.
Getting out of the hotel?
The options are very much safari or safari. However the hotels location does mean that day visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ngorongoro Crate, are available. A visit to the crater will give you a chance to see the incredibly rare black rhinos there.
Want to splash out?
The hotel offers a range of rooms, but if you want to go all out you can rent a private villa at the hotel. The largest private villa at the hotel comes with 3 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, its’ own gym, pool and watering hole…. And with a pretty hefty $10,000 a night price tag.
Overall romantic rating?
It’s an oasis of happiness and romance in one of the most wild and interesting places in the world. If you’re looking for a wild honeymoon, the Four Seasons Serengeti is the ultimate honeymoon destination.
